Professional dating in the UK
PFS started in the UK, and it is still where most of our British members live and work — from the City to Manchester, Glasgow and the south coast.
The UK is where ProfessionalFreeAndSingle began. Paula and Tim set it up because they kept meeting people whose working lives had quietly eaten their social lives — doctors on rotation, solicitors with a trial diary, consultants living out of a suitcase four nights a week.
Dating in the UK has a particular shape for professionals. London pulls people in for their twenties and thirties and then spits a lot of them back out towards Surrey, Hertfordshire and Kent, so a “local” match often means someone forty minutes down a train line rather than round the corner. Outside London the pattern flips: the regional cities are compact, and the pool of people in your field is small enough that discretion matters. That is the main reason members tell us they would rather be on a smaller site than a mass-market one where half their colleagues are swiping.
Practically, that means two things on PFS. Search by area rather than by radius, because a train line beats a straight-line distance in this country. And do not write off a city an hour away — among our UK members, meeting halfway on a Saturday is completely normal.
